My Story: BREE

Pride in Respect | Lived Experience Stories: Bree

Bree shares her lived experience of domestic and family violence in a queer relationship, speaking openly about coercive control, isolation, fear, and the difficulty of recognising abuse when it does not look like the stereotypes people expect.

Her story highlights an important truth: violence in LGBTQIA+ relationships can be overlooked, misunderstood, or minimised. Through honesty, vulnerability, and reflection, Bree speaks to survivors, communities, and supporters about the importance of recognising unhealthy behaviours, trusting your instincts, and speaking up when something does not feel right.

This video is part of Pride in Respect, a campaign raising awareness of family, domestic, sexual and intimate partner violence in LGBTQIA+ communities.
