Pride in Respect | Lived Experience Stories: Paul

In this episode, Paul shares his lived experience of hiding his sexuality in the face of family hostility, while silmultaneously navigating an increasingly violent same-sex relationship. Feeling both isolated and invisible, Paul reflects on the challenges of trying to find suitable, trusted support and the defensive need to develop different masks for work, family and his private life.

Recognising this isn’t an acceptable or sustainable situation for anyone, yet also something very relatable to many in the community, Paul urges others to remember that it’s OK to be who you are and encourages you to take that first step by reaching out for support.
